In reading others' blogs, I see that many welcome new followers. I HAVEN'T DONE THAT so far. My "excuse" is that I am too new to blogging to realize all the etiquette associated with the community LOL! So for those who already follow my blog, thank you for visiting. And I will try and welcome new followers in a timely fashion.
I am actually a very private person and could never talk the way I write. In a crowd, I'm likely to be the one hiding behind the palm frond or else finding a job to do so I can disappear into the crowd. At church potlucks, I always liked helping in the kitchen for that very reason. It's meaningful to me to be able to reach out and "converse" with people that I would otherwise likely never meet. I so enjoy comments on my blog, and I enjoy commenting on others.

ReplyDeleteCarol, did I miss you? Maybe you were on my other blog that I had to cancel because of the name infringement. There was no way I could find to transfer the followers.

ReplyDeleteI was well into having followers before I put it on the blog to make it easy. I never remember to thank new followers so you are WAY ahead of me. LOL!!

Like you, I'd rather NOT be the center of attention and prefer small gatherings of friends. I avoid pot lucks for that reason as well as not being a cook. Oops!
I have always tried to thank new followers with an individual email rather than on my blog. I assume they get my email, but don't know for sure. Sometimes I can't figure out who a new follower is. Don't know what to do about that. :)

ReplyDeleteDidn't mean to make anyone feel bad!!! Just wanted to say welcome. Not all blogs do this, I just saw it on some and wanted to try. I am having a problem with my email - haven't got Outlook set-up properly and sometimes a link tries to go straight to Outlook and then it fails. Yahoo is my main email account. So gotta get that corrected. Still learning...

ReplyDeleteDo and write however and whenever YOU want. People will follow you or not .. It is more about blogging for yourself than anything.
Then there are those like me who are followers via RSS that don't show up in the follower lists. At the risk of upsetting fellow-bloggers (and losing the few followers I have) ... I think the follower thing has gotten out of hand. Don't get me wrong ... I enjoy having followers, and when I happen to notice that I have new ones, I'll give a general shout out to thank them. But I don't make followers or the blogs I follow a focal point of my blogs. Just my 2 cents.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the shout out. I always try to thank my followers, and post their sites, if they have one. Lots of folks don't so, it is really up to you which way you go. Love your blog and really enjoyed going through Bishop with you.
ReplyDeleteMerikay is correct. This is YOUR blog, write it when and how and about what you want. So far we have enjoyed it, and we are learning to skip over those who bore us unless their subject heading catches our attention. Yours certainly did today!
ReplyDeleteSince I went to the new follower display, I have trouble seeing who is new and who isn't, especially if they don't have a picture, they then go to the bottom of the list, You can only do the best you can. Be safe out there, Sam & Donna.
