It was inevitible. One granddaughter arrived with the sniffles. We talked about hand washing and covering coughs and got out the cold capsules and the hand sanitizer and all seemed to be working well. Then another granddaughter arrived and she had a really bad case of the sniffles. We had the same talk about preventing the spread of germs. I did not want the other kids getting sick and I certainly did not want to get sick right before a big trip.
All seemed to be working quite well. Anna seemed to be all over her cold and Cailin didn't get too sick. But, as all good grandchildren usually do, they left a parting gift for Grandma. YUP, I started out feeling pretty good today, then had a few sniffles and sneezes which I attributed to pollen, but it is becoming increasingly clear: I hab a code in my node (and the rest of my body as well).
I wish I were a youngster and could just shake these things off. I used to!! But somewhere between "young" and "not so young" I began to loose that ability to ward off germs. I don't blame the kiddos - I know they didn't mean to make me sick...I am just disappointed that I won't have all the energy I need to get things ready. Oh well, what gets done, gets done, and the heck with the rest of it. It'll all work out in the end.
Gotta run...must find vitamin C... zinc...echinacea...Theraflu...ANYTHING...any suggestions?
P.S. Did a spell check on this post and for echinacea the spell checker suggested euthanasia...hope that doesn't mean anything LOL!!
You made me laugh out loud -- about the spelling of echinacea. My husb swears by Nyquil -- says it knocks out whatever is ailing him...it's prob the alcohol in it...LOL! Hope you feel better soon.

ReplyDeletePlease don't take any euthanasia! Sorry to hear that you are not feeling well. Dave likes to take those fizzy cold tablets, but I usually rely on Nyquil. It doesn't really cure anything, but it does help me to sleep better when I have a cold. I like to use good ole Vicks VapoRub if I can stand the messiness of it. Get well soon!

ReplyDeleteDayquil/Nyquil tend do it for me. Zicam helps to shorten the duration and helps make cold symptoms less intense. Hope you feel better soon.

ReplyDeleteSorry you're sick - hope it's a light cold, and quickly gone. Take it easy and drink lots of hot tea. A good excuse to take it easy when you can.
I seldom see grandchildren when at least one of them doesn't have a cold. Take care. :)
