Krecklow Kousins Kid Kamp

Things have been hopping around the old Krecklow homestead the last couple of days.  Sunday evening our two grandgirls from the Portland area came to stay.  Of course at their ages, the real reason they come down is to see all the Kousins and see what kind of chaos they can create.

Monday we had a backyard swim day.  The day started out rather cold and cloudy and didn’t really warm up until about 4:00p.  So they swam a bit later than usual.

All the usual suspects were in evidence, including one additional.  My sister’s grandson, Loki joined us.  Loki and his mom recently moved back to Eugene after living in California for many years.  Loki is 13 and fits right in with the other monkeys.

Today we woke up to RAIN – can you believe it?  The worst part is we finally caved and ran the sprinklers yesterday.  We have been able to keep our water bill a lot lower than usual this year and that’s a REALLY good thing.  A backyard day was not going to work and having them all in the house for the day was, well, shall we say not in the cards!!  Too bad too cuz Dave and Carol were going to stop by the house and have a backyard visit as well, after they dropped off their motorhome for some repairs.  We’ll just save that for another time.  We invited Dave and Carol to join us at the roller rink but they declined.  Can’t imagine why!

So we spent several hours inside a closed in building with no windows, having our ears assaulted with pounding rock music, having our eyes assaulted with flashing disco lights, and having our noses….well you get the idea.  Fifty Thousand sweating kids do not smell like fresh baked cookies!  We loved every minute of it.  The kids had a great time and we had fun watching them.  I hope they are all as tired as we are tonight.

I didn’t even try to get photos of them out on the floor as those pictures never turn out…too dark and the expanse of the room just totally swallows the light from the flash.

Tomorrow we are taking a little trip to the fish hatchery and park.  Hopefully that will be of a little more interest to you travelers out there.  This post is mainly for family but thanks to all who dropped in for a visit.  See you tomorrow.

P.S.  In case you missed the link on the Bayfield Bunch blog, every RVer should read Nick’s blog on Magic Carpet Ride.  An Excellent piece of writing and one we can all relate to.

  1. Sorry we missed out on the visit with you today, but I think you were too busy to miss us. Me on the floor of the rink would not be a pretty sight! It turns out that Guaranty was having their customer appreciation lunch while we were there, so we went over to the sales site and had hamburgers and hot dogs and all the trimmings. They evidently do this every Tuesday from 11:30-1:30.
