Things That Go Bump in the Night

Rumors had been rampant lately about the goings on in the the Delta Pond Woods.  Stories of strange sounds and curious creatures.

Stories of aberrant behavior, of plants growing not in the ground but in strange plastic tubes.

Sleuth of the Supernatural, Mr. K, and his faithful companion, Poppy the Wonder Dog, were sent to investigate.  At first the path into the woods seemed harmless enough, the only sounds the creak of the planks and the soft footfalls of the investigators.

The first notion that something was amiss came when two strange critters were observed across the smooth waters of the  quiescent pond.  Mutants no doubt, each with only one leg and a head with no neck.  Strange, very strange indeed.

The flora were likewise affected.  Strange pod-like appendages dangled from dense shrubbery.

And then, what is this?  Perhaps a nursery for the gestation of these alien pods?

Perhaps, they were seeded from the inhabitants of the UFO, landing gear still deployed,  that was floating across the azure sky.

More bizarre sights were in store for our intrepid investigators as they rounded a curve in the path.  Strange creatures that looked like they had crawled from the sea had attached themselves to dense vegetation.  Were these dried octopi or strangely rounded squid?

Mr. K could not escape the feeling that something was watching him.  Upon closer inspection he became aware of the sentries that had been posted strategically across the water.

As wild things skittered into the underbrush, it was evident they had been warned of the impending approach of the investigative team.  But how, in these dense and dark woods, was the message communicated to beware?  It could only be by the Web.

The mysteries of this wild wonderland remain unsolved.  Should you happen to visit, be well away before dark.  You have been warned.

  5. So clever, Mrs. K.!

Did you say you were in banking??? You should have been a teacher or librarian, the kids would have loved it! Your grandkids have the benefit of Mr. and Mrs. K, I guess.

  8. Very cute post, Donna. I can remember having a spooky feeling years ago on a trail in a state park in south Georgia. There's something about "swampy' areas.
