No news is good news!

Not much to say today.  We traveled all the way from Reno to Minden, NV (about 50 miles) where we are sitting in intermittent snow showers.  Wanted to get further on down the road but the mountains between here and Bishop are under a snow tire or chain advisory and since we have neither, we're going to sit here and relax a couple of days.

We are at the Silver City RV Resort, and I use the term "Resort" loosely!  It's okay for a place to park but I sure wouldn't call it a resort.  I will take some photos later and post them tomorrow along with my evaluation of this place.  We might take a run back to Carson City to visit the railroad museum and the old Mint.

Internet here is extra so want to use my time today catching up with all your blogs.  Check back tomorrow and I will update you with our adventures.

Paid $3.74 for regular gas in Carson City.

P.S. Just looked up...snowing hard right now...drat!

  2. Yikes-snow tires, chains. Definitely not something I would want to put on the motorhome. I have noted that the word Resort is much overused.

  3. My Grandpa & Grandpa lived in Gardnerville/Minden...I can picture their house and the times I spent there. Thanks for the memory!

We have a 37' Class A motor home and carry chains, have put them on multiple times. It's really not that hard and when you need to get somewhere and they are required it is good to have them on hand.

    Be safe.

  4. Smart of you to stay put through the bad weather. Don't want to rub it in but we had blue skies and bright sunshine today with temps around 60. it felt great! Could Spring finally be here?? Have a safe trip!

  5. We carry chains, too, and had to use them once to get out of our driveway and street when we were headed to a memorial service for Dave's brother in December, 2008. We couldn't wait out the storm that time! Now we carry them with us as insurance that we won't need to use them!

Maybe someday you will get to the nice weather? :)

  8. We tried to go to the railroad museum in Carson City last year but it's only open certain times and it didn't work out. Hope you can take pictures so I can visit it with you guys.

  9. If winter is following you, just make sure you drag it a little further South and get it lost before you return home. Counting on you for this, thanks!

  10. I would much sooner sit a storm out rather than go through all that hassle of chains on tires & stuff. Not to mention the high stress of driving on snow & ice through blizzard conditions. That just knocks all the fun out of RVing pretty darn quick. 'Snow' is very nasty & bad four letter word!!

  11. Hey, guys -- get that snow outta there pronto! We need to be in Carson City in about four weeks, and we're coming up over highway 395 through Bishop! As for that Silver City RV place -- forget that! We will never stay there again. Suzy was injured there while using their laundry, and they refused to even file an accident report! Their attitude was "It's all your fault that chair collapsed!"
