Okay, this seems to be my second post of the day but it really isn’t. I wrote last night about our trip to Reno but was unable to get an internet connection from Therapy, If you read the Reno blog you will see why I didn’t just pick up the computer and go in the house to log on.
The wind finally quit last night and we slept pretty good. We woke up this morning to this…

The water hose had frozen and our fresh water tank is almost empty, so no hot showers this morning!! Other than that we are doing just fine!
The dogs are absolutely LOVING the snow. They ran and chased each other and wrestled and rolled around like they were puppies instead of senior citizens.
We took the dogs on a long walk outside of the fence. David has made trails allover his property so it is easy walking. Rusty and Poppy scampered around and smelled all the delicious animal smells and had a great time. I could really tell their age is catching up to them though. A cottontail ran from the bushes not very far from where we were walking and Rusty didn’t even see it. In his younger years he would have been after that rabbit quicker than scat. Now they are mainly content to walk with us and not venture too far afield. Sometimes I think there is nothing more faithful than an old dog.
LOL Tell me about it! I think the warmest we've been so far this spring overnight is maybe mid 30s. I can't wait for the warmer weather to get here - hopefully by the time we get back from TN. :)
ReplyDeleteI forgot to comment on the wind -- we had winds earlier in the week of 60+ mph. We were literally rockin' 'n rollin, but we survived. I hope you & Russ are having a good time as the puppies are:) Sorry about the frozen water hose. Alan puts a drop light inside various compartments when freezing weather is expected. Safe travels!

ReplyDeleteThat's why we run off the water tank instead of hooking up to city water. You just never know when a hard freeze is going to hit!

We really try to avoid any place where the water could freeze. Don't always succeed though. Our girls didn't like snow even when they were puppies. Now that they are older they really hate it. Jim always had to go shovel a place for them to use and they still waited until they just had no choice. And I agree, an old dog is a wonderful companion.

ReplyDeleteWe generally keep a good bit of water in the fresh water tank during colder water. If only a little water in there it could freeze. Snow & RVing just don't mix. We seldom use our furnace & have a blue flame propane heater that works great. We love all our old faithfull dogs. They are just the best of ever:))
