A Cute Little Lighthouse

We made a quick run through the campground at Bullard's Beach near Bandon, OR.  It was different from Sunset Bay even though the two campgrounds are separated by only about 25 miles.  Bullard's Beach is much drier and the sites are not as large or private.  Not much grass here like there is in Sunset Bay.

But they do have a lighthouse.  P1040696Coquille  River Lighthouse was built in 1896 and operated until 1939.  Although it has been decommissioned, it still serves a purpose as a tourist draw for the area.  We didn’t go on the tour, just did a bit of drive-by shooting.

Driving through Old Town Bandon, we continued on towards the jetty and saw a different perspective on the lighthouse.  As the fog rolled in, it was easy to see why a lighthouse would be a good idea.

The fog sat like a blanket over the water.  Russ just sat like a bump on a driftwood log.

Russ was taking a picture of Table Rock.

The fish were biting so the fishermen didn’t seem to mind the fog.

Although it was foggy, the air was pleasant and we were not cold at all.  It was a great day and we have lots of happy and interesting memories of Bandon.  We did make one stop that we wish we could undo and saw things we wish we could un-see!  That’s next.

  2. That Coquille Lighthouse is very accessible. We like Bandon but don't get down there too often. I like your fog pictures!

  5. When we visited that lighthouse, there were five labrador retrievers all sitting next to one another as quiet as could be. Our two were acting like goods, of course.

You've got my curiosity going about what you want to "unsee".

  8. That has an odd eeriness about it. But yet, really neat looking. Love the lighthouse!

  10. I'd have to say Russ looked more like a 'burl' on a driftwood log than a 'bump'.

Great photos of the lighthouse and fisherman in the fog - perfect Oregon coast atmosphere.

"We did make one stop that we wish we could undo and saw things we wish we could un-see!" You are turning this blog into a suspense thriller.
