Two Granddaughters, Two Days, Two Events

We’ve had a busy two days here in Oregonland.  On Wednesday we took Therapy to Gresham (Portland area) and attended granddaughter Bekah’s end of year choir concert.

This was a combined concert with all the middle school choirs.  They did a lot of show tunes and one of the numbers was from the musical  “Wicked.”   “Wicked” is sort of a prequel to “The Wizard of Oz.”  In it the witches are young girls who are still best friends.  In the song “Popular”, Glinda, who grows up to be the Good Witch, wants to do a makeover on her green friend who grows up to be the Wicked Witch of the West.  Bekah sang this for a talent show last year and this year she had the solo part for the Select Choir rendition.  She really gets into the spirit of the character.  It’s a couple of minutes long but Bekah’s solo is right at the beginning, so you can skip the rest LOL!!

Then on Thursday we attended the 5th grade graduation of granddaughter Emilie.  She and her older sister, Cailin, have gone to Yujin Gakuen school since kindergarten.  It is part of the public school system but is a Japanese immersion school.  The students are taught in both English and Japanese and become equally adept at both languages.  I put together a few short clips from the ceremony.  Emmie is the blond in the white and turquoise dress.

So we are a couple of tired old folks and I think I’ll give it up and go to bed!  Night all…

  1. As grandchildren get older, can we grandparents stay at the same age? ;) Good job, Bekah and Emmie!
