We left the Lincoln City KOA this morning. Russ was having a bit of trouble with the drop on the sewer hose. It kept backing up because the hose was not supported and slanted. We haven;t purchased a support yet so he had to improvise. It wasn’t pretty but it worked!
We drove the short 20+ miles to the Spirit Mountain Casino. We met Alice and Elmer for lunch and what a great lunch it was…but then it always is at Spirit Mountain. Afterward, Al and El joined us in Therapy and we had a good time catching up on everyone’s life. Did a little talking about our planned trip to Yellowstone in the fall.
We were going to make it to Clackamette Park this afternoon but the wind was blowing pretty hard on the freeway and I could see Russ was getting tired.
Some years ago we had looked at a fiver for sale in an RV Park in Aurora, OR. We were more impressed with the park than we were with the fiver and we have never forgotten it. So when we got close we decided we had gone far enough and stopped at Aurora Acres RV Park.
This park is right off the freeway so is very convenient. There is some freeway noise but it is not excessive – more like a swiftly flowing river. Inside the RV it is hardly noticeable.
This is a nicely landscaped park and the rate with the Good Sam discount was $34.20. This includes about 70 channels of cable TV but internet is only available in the clubhouse. There is a pool but with the cool weather, it has not been filled for the season.
One of my favorite things about this park is the pet area. Does that surprise you? It is across the driveway but it is worth walking across the street for. There is a manicured lawn, lots of trees to sniff, and several conveniently placed trash cans for the inevitable bags. (I hate having to carry the full bags all the way home). The only thing that could make this better was if it was completely fenced. Maybe someday!

There is also a convenience store and a gas station right on the corner. I’m sure Russ will find his way over to the store at some point. Never know what you might find and they might have some fancy coffee!
We are parked right next to one of the shower/restroom buildings. They are really nice with private rooms with a chair and heat lamps. I hate to get out of a shower in a cold room so normally don’t use the shower facilities, but this looks really nice.

So all in all, I think this is a great place for an overnight stop. Tomorrow we will head on to Clackamette Park and hunker down for a couple of days. The sky looks like it might be clearing so hopefully we can get a spot by the river and just enjoy watching the boats go by for a couple of days.

ReplyDeleteThose doxies are so cute. But I'm a wee bit prejudiced. We have learned to sleep with highway noise, trains, and just about anything else clanging away since we started our life on the road. I'm looking forward to see Clackamette Park. Hope the sun comes out so you can enjoy the boats.

ReplyDeleteLooks like a nice park! I'm glad you showed the photo of the sewer hose - mine was nice and straight until I backed up a bit to level The Palms on a leveler, and now it's not. I think I need to straighten it out again or I may have some problems. :(

Good thing you had some "Legos" along! We haven't stayed at Aurora Acres, but I enjoy visiting the museum in the small town of Aurora. It features the Aurora Colony which one of my favorite authors, Jane Kirkpatrick, wrote about in her books about pioneer woman Emma Wagner Giesy.

ReplyDeletethat does look like a nice park! I love banging around Aurora antique places, they have the neatest things! and the Oxbow Barn & Museum is on the 'to see' list, a great place and history. My mother's family lived in Aurora in the early 30's when they 1st came West from Iowa!
