We had some hamburgers, pulled pork, beans, and lots of fruit. I don’t think anyone went away hungry and we were so busy eating I forgot to take pictures. However, I did get one later while we were sitting around visiting.
Judy brought her laptop and showed us lots of photos from their travels…places I would like to see but probably never will. But that’s why I read blogs. I get to see things through the eyes of many and each one has a little different perspective. That’s what I like about blogs. I don’t say it often, but I appreciate my blogger friends and all the places I get to go to with you. I try to be good in the backseat and not cause any trouble, although sometimes it’s hard to control my travel partner!!!
The girls of course provided the after dinner entertainment…but I drew the line at them passing the hat! They did try that later in the evening though out at the curb. They sang to passerbys and even got a smattering of applause. What can I say??? I blame it on the full moon. (note to the parents: it was all in fun and it's a summer they won't soon forget! You can retrain them when you get them home!)
We managed to find a couple of big old cucumbers in the garden yesterday. These are English cukes and boy, do they get big! We had a mustache cucumber and a smiley cucumber! We gave one to Judy and Everett before they left.
Today it was time to have a last hurrah at the Roaring Rapids pizza parlor so we did that early. It was a beautiful day for it, perfect for sitting outside by the river.
A quick stop at Island Park for some publicity pictures was next on the agenda!
They sang a few tunes and Cailin left her guitar case open but, alas, no one threw money at them! Oh well, maybe someday.
It’s been a really good visit with the grand girls, and the boys when they were able to join us. The girls got along together surprisingly well for being together 24/7 for almost two weeks.
We did have a rather strange occurrence this afternoon. We got home from the park and everything inside the house was fine. The girls got a drink and did some clean-up and then two got in the pool. A little later Cailin went to get a drink and there was NO WATER. I checked all the faucets and there was no water anywhere inside or out. Russ checked the street valve but he couldn’t see it very well. I call EWEB (water co.) and they didn’t show a problem but they sent a truck out to check. Seems someone had turned our water off at the street – and it had to be while we were home. Didn’t see anyone do it but I did see a couple of boys hurrying past and glancing at the EWEB truck while it was here. I sure hope this is not going to be the new prank in the neighborhood. Maybe they finally got tired of beating up on our mailbox. GEEZ!! I wonder how many times MY boys did this same stuff and I never knew about it ha-ha. All's well that ends well and that’s the end of this story!!
The beauty of grandparenthood. Now the girls are returned to the parents to be put back on the straight and narrow. It looks like you are fortunate to have a great group of grandkids.
ReplyDeleteThose 2 weeks sure went by fast! It's funny that you should mention "traveling" with other bloggers... I get to enjoy other folks kids and grandkids since mine all live so far away.

ReplyDeletelooks like the girls are having a blast... really thought we would make it by your place on our last day but we ended up camera shopping and looking for a new battery charger for my laptop that died... much frustration ensued...

Boy what a busy few weeks. Nice you got to visit with Judy and Everett. The girls sure looked like they had a fun time with you both. We will get some of those Perogies for sure when you make it up this way. Have a Great Friday!

ReplyDeleteI totally LOVE my Grandkids, but there is no way I could handle them all with us for two weeks. You are amazing! Now that we are in the 5er fulltime, just one kid at a time will work for us. Will sure miss them while we travel though and they are back in school. Guess that's what Skype is for, huh?

ReplyDeleteFinally trying to catch up on blog reading. It's fun to listen and laugh with the grandkids. I forgot to put, in my blog, they all decided, yesterday, that they wanted to dye my hair (it's white). They thought I'd look cool in the "mod" colors like blue, red, green. They think they have convinced me to let them dye it a "normal" color at Thanksgiving. We'll see about that.

Boys playing tricks--think that started at the beginning of time. Fortunately, no harm done. Mine would have gotten a lickin', but if they were grandsons probably not. :)
