When we got home, there was a box sitting on the front step. I tried to remember what I had ordered from Amazon but couldn’t think of a thing. That’s good because it wasn’t from Amazon! It was from Los Gatos, California and those great people at Merikay’s Dream!
Russ and Craig like to talk smack about the Ducks. If you have met us or followed this blog for long, you know we love our Ducks. A couple of years ago Russ and Craig had a side bet on the Oregon/Wisconsin game. Ducks won that one and Craig sent us some Wisconsin cheese – YUMMY.
Last week, the Ducks were playing Stanford. Now a few years ago this would have been a gimme but in the last several years, Stanford has come back as a force to be reckoned with. Since our pursuit of being a contender in the national championship game was at stake, Russ told Craig we would send him an EMPTY Kleenex box if we lost. Well, the mighty Oregon Ducks forgot to show up to that game until the last 7 or 8 minutes and we did indeed loose the game. We used a lot of Kleenexes wiping up the tears!!
SO, this is what was in the box that was on the front porch! Merikay put her artistic talents to work and sent us a Kleenex box cover, complete with Kleenex! This is so clever! She did an excellent job and we love it. Here’re the photos.

Isn’t that great? Thank you so much Craig and Merikay. You made our day.
Russ had to put a few more props in the picture to highlight the green and yellow!!
Craig warned me that this might happen, so I shouldn't be so surprised, but it was very fun to receive this wonderful gift.
ReplyDeleteThanks you guys!
Now we can cry in style if they lose another game!!
DeleteI've got friends like that too. They find you down and just grind their heels in. I sure life will be easier with official Duck Kleenex.
ReplyDeleteHope we don't have to use them much more this season!
DeleteMerikay is a wizard with her needle or whatever she uses on those kleenex boxes. She sent me one with hummingbirds on it. Since I'm not a sports fan, I don't use it to wipe tears away, but for the original use of blowing my nose. ;)
ReplyDeleteI remember seeing a picture of that hummingbird. She is truly amazing.
DeleteNow that would definitely make your day worthwhile. Even though it started out crummy.
ReplyDeleteIt really did!!
DeleteI think Russ overdid it with all that green and yellow... :cD
ReplyDeleteAren't you just green with envy!!
DeleteWell, that's definitely not something to sneeze at ;)
ReplyDeleteLiz
We will definitely save it only for Duck tears!!
DeleteGlad you liked it. It wasn't quite perfect, but when everything is done free- hand it rarely is.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoy making fun things for fun people. Making this gave me something to keep my restless fingers working
Oh but it was perfect! Like you say, the handmade things have personal touches that factory-made can never duplicate. I can't imagine how you can make those things up in your head and transfer them to plastic canvas. Amazing.
DeleteHow nice of Merikay! Now you have your weeping tissues.
ReplyDeleteHope we don't need them!!
Deletenice gift!!!! hope you wont have to use it too much!!!
ReplyDeleteLet's hope not!! No national championship game this year but that's okay too. I think Alabama would have killed us.
DeleteHas Russ been sick?? He looks a little green and yellow!!
ReplyDeleteOh that just means he's healthy - he bleeds green and yellow!!
DeleteMerikay is super talented! What a great gift! I've never seen one of those Oregon Duck drummer nutcrackers so thanks for including it in the pictures, too.
ReplyDeleteSince we're not traveling right now, I'm going to have to bring the Duck things you made for me in from the motorhome. I think they're lonely!
DeleteSounds like Mr. Murphy was working overtime.
ReplyDeleteWhat a cool Kleenex box. She sure did a great job. It won't feel nearly as bad wiping your tears now.
Hopefully they won't play another game like they did against Stanford. It was PITIFUL!!
DeleteI read "talk smack about Ducks" and had a minor aquack. Then I remembered what my mother has always said: Roxanne, it's not always about you.
ReplyDeleteGive 'em aich eee double toothpicks about a sale price. I can always work up the energy to get my discounts.
I'm thinking Russ could scoop a lot of 'duck droppings' into that little Kleenex box and mail it back to Merikay....I'm just sayin....
ReplyDeleteNow Rick, you know you want one!
DeleteOh, that is so cool! Merikay sure is talented!
ReplyDeleteHow cool is that.
