But you know what? That’s okay. Because when I get tired of doing one thing, I can always go do something else. I rarely get bored, and by doing a lot of things in a mediocre manner, and nothing really “Well”, I am never asked to do anything of any real importance...like sew a wedding dress or cater an important dinner. Come to think of it, no one ever asks me to sing or play the ukulele either!!
I remember one year I wanted to make something for everyone for Christmas. The doll clothes I made for the girls turned out pretty good..
…but the fizzy bath salts I made for my daughter-in-law were clearly an epic FAIL!
But still I cannot let go of that urge to create. So yesterday I got the urge again and I decided to cut out an apron. I had some really old fashioned looking material and I made a completely reversible apron. It’s for my sister as the last one I made her frayed itself to death!! So it’s not like I sew beautiful quilts or anything but I did have fun with this apron and now I can turn my creative urges to something else – like maybe making a good dinner!
Here is my resident super-model showing off my latest creation.
Really the only reason I sew these things is to see Russ model them!! So that is what I did today and other than that I am just watching the rain come down. Now, about dinner….I’M GOING ALREADY!!
I think it's handy to have a few small talents instead of one super-duper talent. It sounds like you are talented in many different areas. I love the doll clothes and the apron, and I would like to taste your strawberry shortcake that you made the other day!
ReplyDeleteLove the apron.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea to make it reversible.
Looks like Russ is a goos sport!
Donna you are so talented! I wish that I had even a pinch of the talent that you have!
ReplyDeleteYou make things? That is totally beyond me. I don't sew, I'm not crafty, I can cook if I have to, but I'm a pretty happy person - does that count? The apron makes me think of my Mom and Dad. Dad always wore Mom's aprons when he was in the kitchen baking something.
ReplyDeleteWell, next time I am in need of a new apron I will know who to call. Like you, I do not have anything I really excell at either. Just a few hobbies here & there that sometimes turn out OK. Sounds like you may be finally feeling better. Maybe that Russ guy's specilalty is TLC:))
ReplyDeleteI am impressed -- the doll clothes are beautiful & the apron -- WOW...Russ is such a great model! I have yet to find my talent. I am not creative, I would rather not cook...I do a pretty decent job of cleaning & doing laundry -- that's about it:(
ReplyDeleteWow, what a great apron (my favorite color is red, by the way, just in case the urge should strike you again!).
ReplyDeleteLike you, I have lots of "little" talents, but I like it that way. That way, when I get bored (or frustrated at my inability) I can just go on to something else
Hobbies are meant to be enjoyed ... and if you have a variety of them, you'll never get bored :-))))
ReplyDeletemy favourite colour is purple!..hint!..if you are in the mood for making another apron!..so old fashioned but love it just the same!..Russ is such a good sport for being a model!1
ReplyDeletePaulette sews and makes stuff too, but I draw the line at modeling - no way! Come on, Russ, you're making us guys look bad!!
ReplyDeleteLove the doll clothes. My two sisters make doll clothes. One sews and one knits. That apron looks very good on Russ. Stay safe.
