Here Comes the Bride…and the Groom!!

Been a busy weekend for us old folks.  As we were getting ready to go on our trip, we decided to give the lawn a good soaking.  Between the construction in the front and the downed tree in the back, our normally beautiful yard has gone to pot this year.  The sprinkler system seemed to be working fine…until it got to zone 4 – where the tree came out.  There the water just burbled up in a big puddle right where the tree went down.  Called the tree guy and he said he would come and fix it on Saturday.  We had to leave on Friday to attend an early Saturday wedding for our grandson so we told him where the garage key is kept and took off!!  He sent us a picture of the repair so we are hoping for the best.

Saturday morning we went to the wedding of grandson #2, Michael, and his lovely bride, Delaney.  It was a very non-traditional wedding.  Very short and sweet…which we appreciated!!  Their wedding music was flamenco guitar, a nod to Delaney’s Columbian heritage.  That’s our daughter, Merry and husband Bob beside grandson Michael, and Delaney and her parents.

Just wanted to share a few random snapshots of the wedding…

Here’s Grandpa Russ with our two oldest grandsons.  Tim on the left, Mike on the right.  Mike is taller than grandpa but Tim still looks up to him!!

The bride and groom cake was a DQ Ice Cream Cake!!  It’s what they wanted and I think it’s good to do what you want rather than just stand on tradition.

It was a sweet wedding and we wish these two young people all the best.

  1. I like simple, non-traditional weddings. More power to them for doing what they wanted! Did the bride change her dress before the reception? Both of her dresses looked beautiful on her!

    1. Thank you - Delaney made a beautiful bride. She changed after the first dance at the reception. Then they cut the cake. I loved both her dresses.
