A great day for a ride. First the lake, or what there is left of it. I always think the docks look so lonesome just sitting there in the mud.
Actually, it is a huge lake and there is plenty of water, just not in the marina at Orchard Point. It is drawn down in preparation for the winter rains.
If you look closely, you can see a lady in a blue jacket out on the boat ramp. She had the cutest little Mini-Aussie pup. I talked to her and she told me where she bought the pup. It was so cute – I was too busy getting loved on to get a picture. So that encounter resulted in a drive along the road where the puppies grow!
We didn’t find the puppy house (didn’t have an address) but the lady called me later with a name and website. Not sure I want another dog but it will be an Aussie if I get one.

I used to say I loved the smell of sunshine on the laundry – I think I like the smell of fabric softener and dryers a lot better! That’s a lot of work to hang those clothes on the line like that.
Meanwhile, back at the ranch, it appeared that the wet weather we have been getting, combined with the warmer temperatures of the last couple of days have resulted in an invasion of other worldly fungi. None so colorful as what Al gets in Bayfield, but interesting all the same.
This looks more like someone laid a clutch of eggs in our grass!
This is not home-grown but was grown in the flower department at our local Fred Meyer Store.
Thank you, Russ, for my beautiful “Get Well” bouquet. Hope you all remembered to turn your clocks back (except you Arizona and Hawaiian rebels!) and that all my USA friends remember to vote on Tuesday if you haven’t already done so.
I use to hang our clothes out to dry all the time. I loved the smell of sunshine in my sheets.

We did have a clothes dryer, but I never used it. Nor do I ever use fabric softener. I still remember bringing clothes in that were frozen stiff and kind of "breaking" them to fold them. Ahhhh... but the wonderful smell of fresh air! Where we lived in Ohio, they drew down the lake each year to inhibit the growth of algae and other water borne growth. What was funny was there used to be a road through the "now" lake bed, and the old bridge abutments still emerge each winter as the water recedes. Kind of eerie.... especially when I remember riding a horse through there in 1959 before the lake was built. Ahhhh... the memories...

You & Russ met our Aussie girl Gopher. A truly wonderful creature. But don't get an Aussie unless you like dog hair *everywhere*. We say that if it doesn't have dog hair on it, it's not ours.
Plus they can be a real handful.

ReplyDeleteI'm of the throw the clothes in the dryer and get it over with persuasion. I hung up enough clothes when I was a kid to last me a long time. Glad you're having wonderful weather. Ours is warm but by the end of the week we definitely are going to see a change - in the 60's for highs.
ReplyDeleteOur weather today wasn't quite as nice as yours, but instead of taking advantage of the warm weather, I stayed inside working on quilts. My bad!

I think I'll be using our dryer again once we get back home. I've been hanging clothes now for four years. That'll do.
ReplyDeleteI don't mind hanging clothes on the line if I HAVE A CHOICE, but when the weather turns sour, bring on the dryer.
Bob, I just think it's great that you know how to do laundry!! (and cook and clean and shop) You're a pretty good care-taker!!

ReplyDeleteOregon has it all. Not much around here that makes one get up and say, "I think I'll take a ride." Just see other cars and hoards of people.
ReplyDeleteHow the world has changed. I remember boiling diapers and hanging them--they'd get like boards in freezing weather. I remember shaking my hands they hurt so badly. Starching and ironing Rich's shirts! Sterilizing bottles and formula. Walking 15 miles in snow to school. LOL My kids used to laugh (and roll their eyes) when Rich would tell them that.

So many things have changed, for sure. I remember wash day as a kid. When I was very young, my mother still had an old wringer washer! Then sprinkling the dried clothes and hanging rolling them up and putting them all in a basket to get damp for ironing. I could never figure out why the things that needed to be ironed were not just brought in while they were still damp!
DeleteWhile we are died-in-the-wool dryer users, we do have several folks here in the park that hang their clothes out to dry. Most have the umbrella type spinner in their back yard, but one just up the street has it in the front yard for all to see. Here at our SKP park the laundromat is so convenient. We have 10 washers, 10 dryers, two to three years old, and some of the guys here keep them maintained. The place is spotless. Cost is $1 to wash, 75 cents to dry, and the machines take large loads. Seldom have to wait for a machine.
