We have spent the last several days dinking around with giving Therapy a good cleaning. We washed and waxed and we scrubbed and we polished. A little here and a little there and we got ‘er done.
Look how nice and shiny she is.
I even gave the inside a good cleaning. Dog beds and blankets are out for this trip, even took the covers off the furniture. I waxed the counter top and polished the wood and mopped and vacuumed. Okay, so the beds in the back aren’t made with military precision, but they’re clean!
The chrome was so shiny, I wanted to take a picture of Russ reflected in the chrome. I didn’t notice the little blob on the hood until I was processing the photos. Click on the picture and enlarge to show detail!
Seems like no matter what ya do, it’s just impossible to get all the bug splats off, especially if you are half blind like we are!! So, what do YOU do to keep the rig clean when you’re driving and how do you get rid of those stubborn bug splats. I suppose we could just park her under cover and keep her there…NOT!!!
I've wondered the same thing. I had mine washed/waxed the first month, June, and last month I hosed it off and dried where I could reach. Then after it sprinkled a bit I took out a towel and wiped the areas with bugs.
ReplyDeleteI've seen people actually wash their rigs with soap, the hose and their cleaning tools in campgrounds. I didn't think we were allowed to do that, so I'm always fast and careful. A fellow camper said something to me about how nice it looked after "washing my rig," and I said I wasn't washing, just rinsing it off. :)
I guess we don't worry much about it when we are traveling. On the Alaska trip we did try to get her washed after some particularly bad roads, and the RV parks often had washes. Otherwise, we just travel and have fun and clean her up when we get home, bugs and all. If we are on the road more than a couple of weeks, then we will try to find a big bay car wash. I would imagine that there are often bugs left behind as well! We never actually tried to wash the rig in a campsite.

ReplyDeleteOkay, now I feel a bit guilty. We need to turn too and clean the place up. We have been so busy sightseeing, we have been just doing the routine stuff.
ReplyDeleteWe usually don't wash the whole rig while traveling during the summer... every once in a while maybe but he always washes the front off when we stop. He uses a wash the has wax in it an it works great. I also heard about the fabric softeners are good for taking off bugs...

I like your floor plan, it looks like you have room to move around and a place for your computer. Plus a bed...that's a big one for me.
ReplyDeleteWhen we are traveling, Dave tries to clean the windshield at the beginning of each travel day. It's better for taking pictures if the window is clean, but it gets splatted up again quickly.

ReplyDeleteCan't worry about it too much when traveling ... we're out to have fun. But weekend camping like we've been doing gives Mui a chance to spiff things up. When we're on the road, Mui does clean the windshield and the front of the rig at the end of the day when we come into a campground. Otherwise, it gets more difficult to get them off ... a soft brush and a bucket of water does wonders. I thought he had tested the dryer sheet method, but he says not. I imagine, you'd need to do a good rinse after using them.

ReplyDeleteHubster just scrubs and scrubs for the dern bugs... what he accomplishes on the outside Mombi paws up on the inside chasing the scrubber up and down!
We try to keep the bugs off as often as possible. Ours needs a full bath right now - maybe when it cools down a bit. Therapy looks great.
ReplyDeleteGreat job on the cleaning...doesn't take as long in an rv. It sure does always look great after a good cleaning. Those bugs are almost impossible to get rid of completely.
