Ollie and Jewel hopped right in. I had their tethers affixed to the sofa seat belts and brought their crate along for good measure. Ollie matches the blanket we use to cover the sofa.
Jewel on the other hand, looks like she would disappear into the upholstery if I took the blanket off. I’ll have to try that next time we get in the motor home. Look how well she matches the sofa pillow!
Both dogs settled right in and I moved over to my dinette chair.
Jewel looked very curious at first that the whole house was moving but she didn’t seem afraid. Ollie looked out the front window for a bit then just settled down and went to sleep.
We only went as far as the lake – about a 15 minute ride, but we took the long way home. I feel confident the poochies will do fine on longer trips and we’ll be doing some of that soon.
While we were at the lake we saw a LOT of geese. I think they must have been Wimpy Geese because they were all flying SOUTH!! Wave after wave of these honkers flew over head all headed (more or less) in a southerly direction.
One thing they had in common, they just couldn’t seem to get into formation. These guys especially seemed to be having trouble. They made a great line but a “V” was not forthcoming.
Well, like I said in my title, it’s not about the destination, it’s about the journey. I hope these confused critters
can get it together and enjoy their journey as much as we did ours, even if it’s a short one.
Those must be Oregon Geese!

ReplyDeleteYou know what I was thinking as I was reading your post? Why do we question whether or not a dog will travel well? If they do fine in a car, they should do even better in a motor home where they can be more comfortable. Don't you think? Even so, I'm happy for you that they liked it, and matched so well. That's funny, they really do! :)

ReplyDeleteMakes me wonder who decides who is the "alpha" goose? Maybe nobody in that group took "Leadership 101".
ReplyDeleteKnow what you mean by the journey. When home in Bayfield for those looooong months of sitting in one spot even taking the rig out for a 20 mile drive around the area is all important. Not only for the rig but the driver of the rig as well. And to have best Pals come along just always makes those short trips so extra special.
