Last Day With the Grands and Amazon Prime

Today is the last day of grandkids week.  We didn’t get as many hours in with all the grands as we would have liked but we did what we could.

Today we went to pizza at Roaring Rapids on the river.  After all the rain we have had, the place has definitely earned its name.  Here's a picture I took last October when Rick and Paulette stopped by on their way to California and next to that a picture of what the river looked like today.  In the summer, the Willamette is a popular river for fishing from a drift boat or just rafting for fun, but I sure wouldn’t do it now.

We managed to burn off some of the kid’s energy in the arcade.  They gravitated to the air hockey game and had a great time playing various versions of two against one.  Just look at that puck fly.

Then we got home and the Wii games that I ordered yesterday afternoon from Amazon had arrived!!  I cannot say enough about Amazon Prime.  Not only do you get free shipping no matter what the cost, it is the FASTEST shipping I have ever received from Amazon.  Now that is only items fulfilled by Amazon so if you go to an off-site store that handles their own fulfillment, you might have to pay.  I don’t think I have purchased very many items that were not fulfilled by Amazon so it’s not a concern for me.  I also love the fact that I can get tons of movies and older TV shows for free with Amazon Prime.  For $79 annually, I think it's a heck of a deal.

So back to the new Wii games.  I bought several Dance games and the kids have been at it ever since we got back from the pizza place.  It sure uses up some energy and it’s good for them.  Here’s a short clip of them dancing – they didn’t know I was filming but they were sure having fun.

And with that we bid a fond farewell to Spring Break at the grandparents…but summer break will be here before we know it.  It’s been fun, now I’m ready for a nap!!!

  1. Donna, I couldn't agree more about Amazon Prime. I've had it for several years, and I do all my shopping with Amazon. I've only had two delivery problems in 3-4 years (and I order a lot), and Amazon was very quick to fix them.

I just downloaded a free movie the other night--another plus. With the price of shipping, I probably make up the cost of Prime in a month or two.

My daughter called the other night wanting to get my grand daughter, who has taken a liking to baking, a cook book. She would have had to mail it to her or wait until the next time we see her. While she was on the phone, I looked it up on Amazon and it was over $5 less expensive AND no shipping cost so I ordered it and had it shipped to my granddaughter. What a convenience!

I even get Jack's some of Jack's medication from them and I have a subscription for Arizona Green Tea that is sent automatically--again, no shipping.

    GMTA !!

  2. Cute video of the grandkids! I've got to get another TV so I can do my Wii again.

Enjoy your rest, you've earned it!

  4. That's the kind of video game that kids SHOULD be playing! Good choice, Grandma. Good job on the video, too!

  6. Activities seem to be geared around burning energy. I detect a madness to your method.

  8. Looked at Amazon Prime a while back, but most of what we order has been free shipping anyway, and mostly from other fulfillment centers. We haven't felt the need to sign up yet; but the $79 is sure reasonable for those who do a lot of shopping on Amazon.

  10. I have never heard of Amazon Prime. It does sound like a great deal. I can barely believe you ordered it one day and it was there the next. What great service.
I am sure the kids are going to miss you two. School will seem very boring after all the fun they have had with you two! You deserve a bit more than a nap! Enjoy your quiet weekend. ~wheresweaver

  11. If we were stationary, I would have Amazon Prime. I've always been pleased with the quality of their service too.

  12. I wish I was one of the grandkids. They look like they are having a great time.

I have had Amazon Prime ever since I worked for them back in their peak holiday season. It is really a good deal especially the free movies.

  13. Sounds like you had a great time with the Grandkids. I love Amazon like anyone does, but I use DISH Online to watch movies and TV shows for free. A co-worker at DISH told me to try out DISH Online. I went to that site and fell in love with it. It has several shows on there for free and they have current and old episodes. I go online to watch any episodes I have missed or to watch something new. Since I subscribe to DISH, I have access to more movies and TV shows. I love this site and it gives me plenty to watch when I am traveling. Your story and pictures makes me excited for our road trip this summer.
