We headed up the McKenzie Highway towards the Santiam Pass and Bend. We just wanted to drive along the river for a bit as it is such a gorgeous drive. Poppy was enjoying every minute of it.
She looks like she has a really long nose because of the camera angle but just look at that sweet face. Rusty was in his bed under the table but they shared the foam block we put between the seats when we travel. They like to see where we’re going too!
We took a picnic lunch and stopped at a park on the river to eat. This is the EWEB Park that we took the grandkids to last summer – great place and not too far away. We didn’t view the fish hatchery this time as it was just to wet to be walking around much. The lake was way up so we parked across from the ball field. Russ took the doggies out for a walk while I got some lunch ready.
Of course, Poppy did her business as quickly as she could and then wanted right back in the motorhome. “It’s wet out here, Mom.” Rusty did his best to walk around a bit.
Therapy ran fine and I exercised the generator and made a pot of coffee at the park. We ran the furnace for a bit and heated up a tank of water and everything seemed to be in working order. We’re thinking seriously again that we can take Poppy and possibly Rusty and go for a short hop in another week…maybe over to Sisters or Bend.
On the way home we suddenly were in the middle of another hail storm. Thank goodness the hail around here is just small stuff – no golf balls!! I think perhaps this was graupel!! Thanks to Roxanne from the Good Luck Duck for my new word!! Graupel – sounds like something you might eat for breakfast with brown sugar and milk!!
Anyway, here’s a short video on what it looked like coming down. It was REALLY loud but you can’t tell because of all the road noise – and it lasted a lot longer than this video. Rusty was getting a bit worried.
Before long there was an icy buildup on the windshield under the wiper.
But we made it home in good shape and that was our day in Therapy!
I hope there was no damage to Therapy. We.re not very fond of hail, are we.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great day you had!! Poppy looks great..hope she continues to do well....
ReplyDeleteDonna, Poppy does have a really sweet face. I'm so glad you've got her on track. Sounds like both pups love to travel in the MH.
ReplyDeleteAny day in Oregon is a beautiful day!
Would you rather be in the southeast-humidity-bugs-heat=miserable.
I remember when we were in Sisters or maybe bend, there was a really neat park (no facilities) but an easy walk to two beautiful waterfalls, and the Rhododendrons were incredible.
The only time I remember running into mosquitoes in Oregon was at Diamond Lake when we visited Crater Lake and when we followed a road along the Rogue River.
Oh, I hope to see Oregon just once again.

DeleteI forgot to mention that they are predicting 1-1/2" hail for us, tonight.
DeleteUnfortunately, when I was on my trip I didn't get to do the coast the way I really wanted to do it. My kids came out and several other things came up. Rich was stationed on a radar site in Hebo near Tillamook.
Well, I hope maybe the weatherman is wrong and you don't get that hail. I agree with you totally - would rather be in Oregon than just about anywhere else. Hope you get to make another trip to our fair state.
DeleteI'm catching up on posts and read about Poppy -- she looks great...you and Russ are wonderful parents and it shows!
ReplyDeleteI agree that Poppy sure is a sweet looking dog! We're back in cloud cover country too but it is such a beautiful part of the USA.
ReplyDeletea great day for some Therapy and it looks like everyone benefitted from you little trip!!!..Poppy looks really good!..almost see a smile on her face!!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you two got home safely. That looks like a mess!
ReplyDeleteGreat to see Poppy enjoying the ride! ~wheresweaver
I told you I bet Poppy would get to go for a ride :) Hey we stopped at that Park on our way home from Sisters the last time Thanks for all the info on it. We need to go there for a picnic when the weather gets better.
ReplyDeleteGraupel is delicious with maple syrup. Scoop it off your windshield and enjoy. Thanks for the promo!
ReplyDeleteWhen you panned left into the other lane I got all panicky. No no! Eyes front! until I remembered the videographer and the driver were different people.
I like your kind of therapy!
ReplyDeleteP.S. The mosquitoes were fierce at Diamond Lake, OR when we were there in mid-July, 2009!
DeleteI've only been to Diamond Lake once and yes, mosquitoes were AWFUL!
DeleteOh I could hear it! Don't like driving in that kind of stuff either. Ya'll are good dog parents & good RV parents too! ;-)
ReplyDeleteWe don't get hail up here very often, but I don't like it when we do. The last time I was in a hailstorm in the car was maybe 3 years ago, but it was so loud! I was sure I was going to see dings on the car when it was over.
ReplyDeleteI am looking forward to seeing Oregon. :)
Sounds like a great day out in Therapy, having never been to Oregon I look forward to seeing it someday. Have fun and be safe out there and on your trip to your Sisters. Sam & Donna..
ReplyDeleteMotorhome 'therapy' is indeed good. It never fails to amaze us how good we feel when we spend some time in the Phaeton, fleeting though that time might be.
ReplyDeleteYeah, that Poppy is sure a handsome dog.
ReplyDeleteLiked that photo of Poppy. Reminds me of our Max. How great to get out for a little spin in the RV. True therapy indeed. All the best to you guys......
ReplyDeleteNothing like being in "therapy" for peace of mind. Sure glad to see Poppy's looking so good and is able to get out and about with you.
ReplyDeleteSounds to me like you are going to need another therapy session!
ReplyDeletePoppy is BEAUTIFUL! What a sweet face! Glad she is doing so much better. Hopefully u guys can travel more now....just plan ahead and have a vet's information handy for the area u will be in. Hope she continues to enjoy traveling. Our little Killer loves it and I'm so glad...he's such a joy to travel with.
ReplyDeleteI've been meaning to send u a card to thank u for the book. We were getting ready for company, family members coming down from PA so I've been much more busy than usual. But thank u soooo much. It's a great book and I'm reading a few pages every night. I really appreciate it.
